The Belle Meade neighborhood of Miami is having a new fence put in, but residents are disappointed with the city’s policy of keeping it unlocked. While the quiet suburban neighborhood has a security guard monitor all cars that enter, a recent robbery at gunpoint drove the residents to seek greater security measures. 92 percent of homeowners signed a petition to have a Miami, Florida fence contractor put a fence around the 400-home neighborhood, which is set to be completed in the coming months. But locals are up in arms that the city will adhere to a State law forbidding public streets from blocking pedestrians, and claim the unlocked gates will render the work of the Miami fence companies useless. Despite this, most residents still want the fence to go up, and hope in the future they will be allowed to be locked.
